Since school let out about a month ago, Erin has been eager to set up a lemonade stand. Why? Not sure exactly, but she wants to earn some money and she likes helping people. So she made a sign: Erin’s Lemonade Stand — The Best Lemonade Ever! We finally had a chance to get her set up yesterday.
She woke up at 6:00 and came into our bedroom: “Mom, can we do the lemonade stand now?!” No, honey it’s too early. Go back to bed. She was back at 6:30. At 7:00, we gave in.

Suzanne made the lemonade and we set up the table. Liam thought Erin needed some music, so he brought out the radio.
Erin waited for and waited on customers. Fortunately it was a hot, sunny day so she had a product folks wanted. Several friends stopped by. A few passersby stopped by. She served almost 40 customers and made $18.47. She worked hard–she was outside from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM! She would have stayed out longer but we had things to do and places to go.

We told Erin we were proud of her hard work. We sat down with her today to sort out her wages (she owed Suzanne $2) a tithe ($1.70) and some savings ($1.70). With the money she had left over, she and I went to the dollar store where she bought her brother a puzzle and coloring book for his birthday.
Yep, I’m very proud of my big girl.
